Texas Public Radio is collaborating with The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for the upcoming “Think Science” live program, which will focus on the theme of addiction. This event aims to delve into the latest information regarding addiction to alcohol and drugs, a serious disorder that impacts a significant portion of adults in the country. The City of San Antonio has even recognized drug overdoses as a public health crisis in June.
Nathan Cone from Texas Public Radio will act as the moderator for the hour-long event, taking place on Monday, July 15, at 7 p.m. at the UT Health San Antonio Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Campus. The location will be the Pestana Lecture Hall, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
Experts from UT Health Science Center San Antonio and its Be Well Institute on Substance Use and Related Disorders will lead the discussion. This initiative is dedicated to advancing research, education, and evidence-based treatments for addiction. Jennifer Sharpe Potter, PhD, MPH, the vice president for research at UT Health Science Center San Antonio and founding director of the Be Well Institute, will be among those leading the discussion.
Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions to researchers during the event to gain a deeper understanding of addiction and the available resources for help.
