Seven of the eight qualified teams for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will be competing in the 2024 IBSA Men’s Blind Football World Grand Prix in Schiltigheim, France, starting on 26 May. The Official Draw for the tournament will take place on Tuesday, 2 April at 11.30 CET, and can be watched live on the IBSA Blind Football website.
The teams competing in the tournament include current Paralympic champions Brazil, world and Americas champions Argentina, Asian title-holders China, European champions France, Japan, Thailand, Colombia, and Türkiye. The field is filled with top-quality teams.
In the previous World Grand Prix held in Brazil in 2023, the hosts emerged as champions with a 2-0 victory over Japan. Argentina secured third place by defeating France. Brazil and Argentina have been swapping the title back and forth since the inception of the World Grand Prix in 2018, with Brazil aiming for a third consecutive victory.
The 2024 IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix will serve as a preview of the upcoming Paralympic Games in Paris, providing fans with a taste of what to expect in September. The tournament will begin with group stages on 26 May and conclude with the final and third-place play-off on 1 June.
