The Indian cricket team, fresh from their T20 World Cup victory, has landed in New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg. The team received a warm welcome at the IGI Airport, team hotel, and en route to the hotel. In addition to meeting the Prime Minister, Team India has a busy schedule for the day, including a BCCI felicitation function at Wankhede Stadium and an open bus trophy tour in Mumbai.
Traffic restrictions have been put in place in Mumbai, with seven roads in South Mumbai closed to traffic and parking prohibited on 10 roads. The team was stuck in Barbados due to a hurricane but was flown out in a specially-arranged charter flight. They arrived in Delhi on an Air India flight named AIC24WC after a 16-hour non-stop journey, following their victory over South Africa in the final.
Upon arrival in Delhi, the team was greeted by hundreds of supporters holding placards and waving the national flag. After the reception with the Prime Minister, the team will head to Mumbai for an open-top bus parade with the trophy. Two buses were ready to transport the players from the airport to their hotel before heading to the Prime Minister’s residence for the reception.
