Local authorities’ education department heads signed a collective labor agreement

The Ministry of Finance, the Center for Local Government, and the teachers’ union have come together to sign a new collective labor agreement with the heads of education departments in municipalities. This agreement outlines several key provisions for the heads of these departments, including a salary increase of NIS 866 retroactively from January 2024.

Furthermore, the agreement also includes a 3.8% salary increase to be implemented in two installments in January 2025 and January 2026. Additionally, a one-time bonus of NIS 6,000 will be provided in two installments in July 2024 and January 2025.

One significant aspect of the agreement is the equalization of conditions for heads of departments of kindergartens and heads of departments of special education with the conditions of heads of departments of primary and secondary school education. This move towards equity in compensation and conditions for all heads of education departments is a positive step towards ensuring fair treatment and support for these important roles in the education sector.
