City Point hosted a block party in Downtown Brooklyn on Friday evening, with the event being organized by the Brooklyn Made Store, their second location. The party saw dozens of people coming out to support local businesses making a difference in the borough.
One of the small business owners involved was Auriia Perez, the owner of Perez Beauty Labs. She shared her excitement at being selected to have her products sold at the Brooklyn Made Store, expressing gratitude to be a part of the initiative. Perez also highlighted the significance of representation for young Black girls, conveying a sense of pride in inspiring others through her own success.
The party was a celebration not only for the opening of the store’s new location but also to show support for the businesses that make it possible. According to Gabrielle Napolitano, the Communications and Partnerships Director for Brooklyn Made Stores, the store serves as a platform for small makers and artisans, offering them a space to showcase their products and build their brand.
The event showcased goods that represent Brooklyn’s diverse community, emphasizing the importance of shopping locally and supporting minority-owned businesses. This aspect of community unity was highlighted as essential, especially in challenging economic times. Brooklyn Made Store aims to provide the necessary support for black and minority-owned businesses and create a platform where they can thrive.
