Wesley Harper, a descendant of one of the Shenandoah Valley’s first residents to have electricity in the early 1900s, is now using his love for technology to bridge the gap between agriculture and technology through his company, Shenandoah Ag Tech, founded in 2022. Despite growing up on a farm, Harper always had a passion for technology, often tinkering with electronic devices like VCRs as a kid. Now, he is combining his farm background and software expertise to make agriculture more accessible and efficient in the Valley.

Shenandoah Ag Tech offers four apps to help farmers in their business operations. Shenandoah Ag Pro provides market reports and agriculture information, Ag Customer Pro tracks hauling and deliveries, Ag Market Report Creator gathers market reports and information for auctioneers, and Ag Fence Pro features a satellite map to estimate and map fencing. Harper and his team of developers created these software solutions based on real problems experienced in the agricultural community.

Harper believes that technology can be intimidating but ultimately is there to help. By providing farmers with accurate and timely information, they can make better decisions when it comes to buying and selling livestock. In addition to software solutions, Shenandoah Ag Tech also offers services to help farmers with branding, such as creating mobile apps, website designs, and aerial videography to showcase their goods and services.

With technology playing an increasingly important role in agriculture, Harper aims to support the local community by providing tools and software that can address the unique challenges in the industry. The apps developed by Shenandoah Ag Tech are free for Apple and Android devices, requiring no sign-up or personal information.
