Long-standing Furniture Warehouse to shut down after four decades in business | Breaking News

After 41 years of business in Manhattan, Furniture Warehouse located at 2326 Skyvue Lane plans to close for good. Steve Williams, the second-generation owner of the store, stated that shuttering the business was part of a long-term strategy for eventual retirement. Williams explained that he and his wife had been working on a 10-year plan, which had taken them 12 years to implement. After 41 years, they wanted to enjoy traveling and seeing what’s outside of Manhattan.

The furniture store began its effort to sell off remaining inventory on June 6 and will have a “quitting business sale” that will last approximately 90 days. Williams mentioned that the length of the sale largely depends on how quickly they can dispose of well over $1 million of retail inventory. Furniture Warehouse at 2326 Skyvue Lane in Manhattan will close its doors after four decades of serving the community.

During the sale, the store will have modified hours, with Furniture Warehouse being open Thursday through Monday and reserved only for moving stock from the warehouse to the showroom on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On the first day of the sale, Williams expressed his gratitude to the community and reflected on the end of his business. He mentioned how it was humbling to see old friends and customers come in to bid farewell and give well wishes.

Once Furniture Warehouse closes, Williams and his wife plan to travel extensively. They want to explore the places they have only heard about all these years. Williams talked about getting an RV and visiting all the places people have been talking about. He expressed excitement about finally having the time to see what they’ve been missing all these years while devoting their time to the business.
