The No. 2 ranked shortstop from Arizona in the 2023 recruiting class, Ryan Kucherak, has decided to transfer after just one season with LSU. Kucherak played in 16 games for the Tigers last season, but only had 12 at-bats. He finished the season with a .250 batting average and two RBI.

LSU is facing a shortage of infielders after several players from last season have moved on. With players like Jared Jones, Tommy White, Ben Nippolt, Austen Roellig, and the catchers gone, the team is left with Stephen Milam, Michael Braswell III, and possibly Josh Pearson. While Milam is expected to return, the status of Braswell III and Pearson is uncertain. Both players may enter the 2024 MLB draft but still have another year of eligibility.

The transfer of Kucherak has intensified LSU’s need to add infielders, with the team now facing a pressing need to fill those positions. It is crucial for the team to find suitable replacements to strengthen the infield.
