Margot Robbie Takes on Reality

In the main trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, Margot Robbie leads us on a tour of Barbie Land, a world that’s always happy and picture-perfect. But little does she know the struggles that lie ahead. When she discovers her heels touching the ground, she must choose between returning to her normal life or learning the truth of the universe. She mostly chooses the former, except for some struggle before entering the real world with Ryan Gosling’s Ken at her side.

However, the real world is nothing like what Barbie envisioned. She receives stares from people, uncomfortable situations, and even finds herself in dramatic chase scenes. The makers of the film describe it as a “hell of a ride,” while urging both Barbie lovers and haters to watch it. The movie also stars Dua Lipa, Sim Liu, Ariana Greenblatt, Michael Serra, and Emma Mackie.

The first trailer for the movie was released last year and paid homage to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. It showed young girls playing with baby dolls, narrated by Helen Mirren, until Barbie enters the scene. The film is set to hit theaters on July 21st and will go head to head with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which stars Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, James Remar, Cillian Murphy, and Gary Oldman. However, the conflicts with the project seem to be under control, and stars like David Krumholtz, Florence Pugh, and Kenneth Branagh will also be a part of the movie.
