Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed during an interview with YouTuber Kane Sutter, that Meta is almost ready to unveil its latest augmented-reality prototype, a project referred to as Orion. The CEO expressed his excitement about the upcoming full holographic glasses that have received positive reactions from those who have had the opportunity to see them. There is significant anticipation surrounding the demonstration of the new augmented reality glasses, which will likely take place at Meta’s annual Connect conference this fall.

Although the AR glasses are not expected to be available for purchase anytime soon, showcasing the advanced technology could serve to generate excitement around Meta’s ongoing investments in augmented reality. Zuckerberg emphasized that the company is focused on creating the full consumer version of the glasses rather than selling prototypes. He mentioned that the current prototype is not the most stylish but is unmistakably glasses as opposed to a headset, featuring thicker frames to accommodate the AR technology.

Meta’s CTO Andrew Bosworth has previously mentioned that the upcoming AR glasses could be among the most advanced tech products in their domain. Zuckerberg touched on the demand for the Meta Ray-Bans and the company’s endeavor to integrate cutting-edge AR technology while ensuring a sleek form factor for modern glasses. Given the significant investments made by Meta in its Reality Labs division in recent years, it is clear that the company is committed to developing advanced products in the VR and AR space. However, Zuckerberg noted that it will take time to see substantial returns on these investments.
