Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2013, Anderson had a successful career, with a .288/.316/.442 slash line through 2022. However, his numbers took a significant hit in 2023, prompting the White Sox to decline his $14 million option. After signing with the Marlins, Anderson’s struggles continued, leading to his designation for assignment on July 2.
One factor that may have contributed to Anderson’s decline in 2023 was a knee injury he sustained early in the season. After spraining his MCL in April, Anderson struggled to regain his form upon returning to the field.
