Alan Weckel, co-founder of 650 Group, highlighted the importance of AI in driving the need for short-reach copper connectivity at 1.6T.

Marvell’s introduction of its Alaska 1.6T AEC DSP continues the company’s track record of delivering top-tier PAM DSPs, enabling cable vendors to offer optimized interconnect solutions for various cloud AI architectures. Analysts have identified Broadcom Inc (AVGO) and Marvell as leaders in the surging $20 billion—$30 billion custom chip (ASIC) market, which is being driven by the generative AI frenzy.
