A tragic event unfolded near a subway station next to Seoul City Hall in South Korea, where a vehicle ran over a group of people at an intersection, resulting in the death of at least nine individuals and injuries to four others. The Police and Fire Department confirmed that six victims died at the scene, while the other three succumbed to their injuries after suffering cardiac arrest upon arrival at the hospital.
Among the injured, one is in critical condition, while the other three have minor injuries. All of them have been transported to the nearest hospital in Jung Gu district for medical attention. Eyewitnesses disclosed that a car leaving a nearby hotel veered in the opposite direction, collided with two other vehicles, and then plowed through the crosswalk, striking several pedestrians.
Law enforcement authorities apprehended the 68-year-old driver of the vehicle, along with his 60-year-old female companion, and both were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Alcohol intoxication was ruled out as a factor, and an investigation into the accident’s causes is underway. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. local time on Monday, prompting a swift response from emergency services, which dispatched nearly 40 vehicles and 140 personnel to the scene to aid the victims and clear the area of the accident debris.
