Mauricio Pochettino has officially left Chelsea by mutual consent after just one season in charge. A statement released on Tuesday confirmed that both the club and Pochettino had agreed to part ways. Along with Pochettino, assistant coaches Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez, and Sebastiano Pochettino have also left the club.

Pochettino expressed his gratitude to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for giving him the opportunity to be a part of the club’s history. He believes that the club is in a good position to continue progressing in the Premier League and Europe in the future. Pochettino was appointed last May after a thorough recruitment process, taking over from interim manager Frank Lampard.

During Pochettino’s time at Chelsea, the club made significant investments in new signings, with many of them being under the age of 25. However, they also offloaded several players, generating around £250m in sales. Despite facing challenges throughout the season, Chelsea managed to secure a sixth-place finish in the Premier League and European football after ending the campaign with five consecutive wins.

After a final day victory against Bournemouth, Pochettino was uncertain about his future at Chelsea. Following discussions on Monday, it was decided that he would step down as the manager. This comes after a season that saw Pochettino lead a young squad to the Carabao Cup final and show signs of improvement compared to the previous season’s 12th place finish.
