The Edmonds Woodway boys’ soccer team beat Meade 2-0 in the state playoffs, with senior forwards Isaac Parreno and Ben Hanson each scoring within the last 10 minutes of the game. The third-seeded Edmonds Woodway Warriors advanced to the state quarterfinals after beating the 13th seed Meade Panthers. Goalkeeper Gabriel Wilhelm was credited with a shutout for the Warriors. Edmonds-Woodway was scheduled to face No. 12 seed Southridge on Saturday, May 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Edmonds Stadium. The winning team would advance to the state semi-finals on May 26 at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup.
In other sports news, the Women’s Athletics District 1 Championship teams are Shorewood, Snohomish, Stanwood, Arlington, Oak Harbor, pilchuck, Everett, and Ferndale. Arlington, Shorewood, Oak Harbor, Lynnwood, and Snohomish are the top five teams for boys. Edmonds Woodway is ranked at number 11.
