France forward Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he was unhappy in his final year at Paris St-Germain, citing specific things and people as the cause. The 25-year-old is set to join Real Madrid on a five-year deal after his PSG contract expires on 30 June.
Mbappe, PSG’s all-time leading goalscorer, did not sign a contract extension last August, resulting in a standoff that saw him training away from the first-team. Despite his unhappiness towards the end of his time at PSG, Mbappe emphasized that he was not ungrateful for the support he received.
The forward credited PSG boss Luis Enrique and adviser Luis Campos for helping him through a difficult period. He expressed pride in overcoming challenges to continue playing and contribute to the team’s success, but acknowledged that he is looking for more in the future.
Mbappe has won six Ligue 1 titles with PSG but is excited for a fresh start at Real Madrid, the newly-crowned Champions League winners. Describing his move to the Spanish giants as a dream come true, he expressed enthusiasm and humility as he prepares to join the club.
As he looks ahead to the next chapter in his career, Mbappe is focused on achieving even greater success and continuing to grow as a player at Real Madrid.
