McPherson College in Kansas has been awarded $2.1 million in funding to establish an educational center for Rural & Community Health Science. The new program at the college will focus on clinical, administrative, behavioral, or community health to help improve health in rural communities. This funding is the first time that the school has received federal funds from congressionally directed spending.

Senator Jerry Moran praised McPherson College for leading the way in training healthcare providers specifically for rural communities. The $2.1 million in federal funds will equip the college with the necessary tools to train more students in clinical, behavioral, and public health professions. This investment is seen as crucial for the college, students, and rural Kansas as a whole.

McPherson College President Michael Schneider expressed his excitement about the federal funding, stating that it will strengthen rural health throughout Kansas. The program will enable the college to graduate more students into rural communities, meeting the increasing demand for healthcare professionals. The support from Senator Moran is expected to have a positive impact across Kansas for years to come.

The funding will be used for updating parts of the school’s science hall, including laboratory and technology enhancements, as well as for professional development opportunities. This investment will further McPherson College’s mission to provide quality healthcare education and address the healthcare needs of rural communities in Kansas.
