Ayers Community Outreach INC. partnered with various community organizations to organize “Men Fighting for Health,” a forum aimed at shedding light on an aspect of men’s mental health. Volunteers from the Impact Center, New Covenant Worship Center, and Indiana Black Expo, Inc. came together for this discussion coordinated by Joe Ayers, who is a two-time cancer survivor and CEO of Ayers Community Outreach. For the past ten years, Ayers has been organizing this event with the goal of connecting men’s mental health to prostate cancer, a disease he is all too familiar with.

According to Ayers, his own experience with cancer taught him the importance of communication with doctors and having a support system. The forum aims to provide men and their loved ones with valuable information on prostate cancer and mental health through the participation of local doctors and specialists. Ayers noted a positive shift in the perception of men’s mental health, with more men feeling less ashamed to seek therapy or openly discuss their mental health.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Impact Center on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. It will serve as an opportunity for men to gain knowledge and resources on prostate cancer and mental health, with the support of community organizations and healthcare professionals.
