Meta AI assistant to be integrated into WhatsApp’s Android app’s search bar

Mar 26, 2024

WhatsApp is currently working to make it easier for users to access the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered assistant Meta AI directly from the search bar of the Android application. Meta AI is a chatbot type assistant developed by the company led by Mark Zuckerberg, based on the Llama 2 language model. It can access information in real time and interact with natural language across different services and devices like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram.

In recent months, WhatsApp has been working on integrating Meta AI into its functions within the app to help users interact with the platform more efficiently. Users can now start a conversation with the chatbot by clicking on a shortcut button in the chats tab. WhatsApp is now working on a new feature that will allow users to make queries to Meta AI directly through the search bar within the app.

With this new update, users can simply enter their questions or desired actions into the search bar, and Meta AI will provide relevant information in the search results. Additionally, WhatsApp will suggest instructions to help users begin their queries more easily. For example, users can ask for information like ‘an idea board for renovating the home’ or ‘jokes about birds’, as well as seek help to carry out tasks or open chats within the app.

This enhancement in the integration of AI within WhatsApp aims to make it easier for users to use the chatbot and navigate the messaging application more efficiently. It provides a seamless experience for users looking to access information or interact with the AI-powered assistant directly from the search bar.
