Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb did not attend the team’s mandatory minicamp as he seeks a new contract. Lamb, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, is looking to negotiate a new deal. On the other hand, star pass rusher Micah Parsons attended the minicamp after skipping most of the voluntary offseason work.

The absence of Parsons during the voluntary portion of the offseason was significant for Dallas as new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer has replaced Dan Quinn, who has taken on a coaching role in Washington. However, there won’t be as many changes on offense in the second year of coach Mike McCarthy calling plays for quarterback Dak Prescott. In the first year of their partnership, Lamb had a career year with NFL-leading stats.

Lamb’s absence during minicamp coincided with Minnesota Vikings’ Justin Jefferson agreeing to a record-breaking non-quarterback contract in NFL history. Jefferson’s new deal is worth $110 million guaranteed over four years, with $88 million paid up front and a potential value of up to $140 million. Both Lamb and Jefferson were first-round picks in 2020 and are entering the final year of their rookie contracts.

Despite the absence of Lamb and the notable contract negotiations, McCarthy remains confident in the readiness of his veteran players. McCarthy stated that the team remains engaged and will be in a great spot despite the contract issues. Lamb and Parsons’ situations will be closely monitored as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
