Michigan football poaches another Ohio State staffer

Ohio State fans have been increasingly upset with all things related to Michigan football in recent times. This includes their three consecutive wins, the Connor Stalions controversy, the national championship, the hiring of former Buckeyes coach Tony Alford, and even the transfer of guard Roddy Gayle Jr. to the Wolverines. All of these incidents have only fueled the fire for scarlet and gray enthusiasts.

The news that broke on Tuesday only added more fuel to the fire. Although it may seem like a minor move, Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines made a significant hire by bringing on former Ohio State staffer Erin Dunston as their new director of operations. Dunston is the sister of former Michigan basketball player and current assistant, Jillian Dunston.

According to Lettermen Row’s Spencer Holbrook, Dunston had been a key member of Ohio State’s recruiting staff since 2021, serving as the director of on-campus recruiting. She was recently promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Football Recruiting & Events before making the switch to Michigan. This move is significant as Dunston is considered a rising star in the personnel and recruiting world.

It appears that Dunston will be taking on a role similar to what Christina DeRuyter once held before she followed Jim Harbaugh to the Los Angeles Chargers. Sherrone Moore had promised to expand the recruiting department during his introductory press conference, and with the addition of Dunston, he is keeping true to his word. This move not only strengthens Michigan’s staff but also takes a rising star away from their arch-rival, Ohio State.
