The Russian embassy in Paris has denied accusations of interfering with France or waging a disinformation campaign against the Paris Olympics this summer. The embassy stated that Russia has more important priorities and expressed solidarity with French citizens targeted due to their support for friendly ties between Russia and France. The embassy called for an end to what they described as a dangerous Russophobic campaign in the French media.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also refuted claims of a Russian disinformation campaign against the Olympic Games. Despite a Microsoft report accusing Moscow of spreading fear to discourage attendance at the Games, Peskov described the allegations as slander. The report identified two Russian groups allegedly involved in the campaign, but Peskov denied any involvement on Russia’s part.

Following the placement of coffins at the Eiffel Tower, three men suspected of involvement appeared before an investigating judge in Paris. The driver, a 38-year-old Bulgarian, along with a 25-year-old man from Germany and a 17-year-old from Ukraine were questioned but not arrested. The investigation is ongoing to determine the motives behind the incident.
