According to US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, Washington is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to address various issues in the region. He highlighted the ongoing process that the US has been working on for some time and emphasized the regular visits of assistant secretary of state to the region.

The State Department recently announced that US Deputy Secretary of State James O’Brien will be visiting Azerbaijan and Croatia on June 27-29. During his visit to Baku, O’Brien is scheduled to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

Earlier in June, O’Brien was in Yerevan where he co-chaired the US-Armenia strategic dialogue session. In an interview, O’Brien stressed the importance of Armenia and Azerbaijan reaching an agreement on a peace treaty, and advocated for ending the practice of making demands and engaging in further negotiations.

In May, amidst widespread protests against the enactment of a controversial law on “foreign agents” in Georgia, US Deputy Secretary of State visited Tbilisi. The visit underscored the US’s interest in the region’s developments and its diplomatic efforts to address emerging issues.
