Litin’s Party Value, a party supply and paper warehouse based in Minneapolis, has announced that it will be closing this summer. The decision to close was made due to the impacts of the pandemic and the changes in consumer shopping habits that followed. Owner Ned Litin stated that the pandemic disrupted plans for parties and social gatherings, while also drastically altering the way consumers shop.
The second-generation family-owned business will begin selling off its inventory on June 11. Although an exact closing date has not been set, a spokesperson for the store indicated that it will likely be by the end of July. The company, originally founded by Ned Litin’s father, Don, started as the Litin Paper Company in 1947, focusing on wholesale paper distribution. Over the years, the company expanded its product offerings to include shipping and packaging, office supplies, and party supplies.
In 1966, Litin’s Party Value opened its doors to the public in downtown Minneapolis, and it has since moved locations several times. In 2018, the store relocated to its current address at 913 Plymouth Ave. North. Ned Litin reflected on the store’s history, mentioning how it served as a one-stop shopping destination for various organizations and individuals seeking supplies for celebrations and special occasions.
