Mirzoyan and Borel outline steps for implementing the new RA-EU partnership agenda

A telephone conversation took place on Saturday between the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and the Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borel, who also serves as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. The news agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia reported that the two discussed a wide range of issues during the call.

The importance of deepening the partnership between Armenia and the European Union was emphasized by both sides, focusing on implementing existing cooperation programs and exploring new avenues for collaboration. The “Armenia’s Resilience and Growth” EU program, developed after a meeting in Brussels on April 5, was highlighted, along with plans to implement a new partnership agenda in the near future. Mirzoyan stressed the need to make a final decision on starting a dialogue on the liberalization of visas between Armenia and the EU.

In addition to discussing upcoming activities and tasks on the agenda, Mirzoyan and Borel exchanged thoughts on regional issues. The Foreign Minister informed Borel about the latest developments in the process of regulating relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, particularly regarding border demarcation and the status of the ongoing draft peace treaty negotiations. Reference was made to agreements reached in 1991 and the Alma-Ata Declaration, and the importance of continuing to work towards a final agreement based on these foundations.

In other news, a variety of topics ranging from financial market violations in Saudi Arabia to the Women’s Champions League final were mentioned in a list included at the end of the report.
