An investigation into Mitchell businessman Cory Cumings has revealed that federal agents found drugs, hundreds of firearms, including a machine gun, in his home and business during a raid. New federal court documents detail how ATF agents seized 147 items, including 125 guns, rifles, shotguns, pistols, and eight silencers from Cumings’ home in Plankinton and Mitchell Roofing and Siding, his business. Agents also discovered more than 10,000 rounds of ammunition during the operation.
Cumings was initially arrested in December on drug and stalking charges in Aurora County. Investigators found 3 ounces of THC wax and a scale with meth residue inside a safe in Cumings’ bedroom, leading to the charges. The stalking charge was related to Cumings threatening to hire a hitman to kill a woman prior to the raid. Cumings was also arrested earlier this year for driving under the influence of drugs, despite being out on bond for three previous DUI charges. A court hearing is scheduled for July 11 to address his cases in Aurora and Davison Counties.
