Free locking marijuana storage bags are now being offered at the Monroe County Health Department located at 2353 S. Custer Road. These bags are available on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The purpose of these bags is to prevent children and pets from accidentally ingesting marijuana. While marijuana is legal in Michigan, it is crucial for adults to store it in a secure place to avoid any accidents.

In addition to providing locking bags, the Monroe County Health Department has launched a campaign promoting safe marijuana use and storage. The organization received a grant from the Cannabis Regulatory Agency within the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to support this initiative. The goal is to raise awareness about the importance of storing marijuana securely.

Recent studies have shown a concerning increase in accidental consumption of cannabis by children under the age of 6. The Monroe County Health Department reported that there was a significant rise in cases from 2017 to 2021. It is crucial for adults to take precautions to prevent children and pets from accessing marijuana products.

If anyone experiences adverse effects from potential marijuana exposure, it is essential to seek medical help immediately. The Poison Control Center can be contacted at 800-222-1222 for assistance. For more information on safe marijuana storage and use, visit healthymonroecounty.com.
