Motorola reintroduces premium challenge with AI in new Razr 50 foldables

Motorola is launching two new smartphones, the Razr 50 and 50 Ultra, which represent a relaunch for the company. Carlo Barlocco, the Executive Director and General Manager of Motorola in Italy, emphasized the progress of this relaunch, stating that it is going well. The company is making a strong challenge to premium smartphone brands with these new offerings. In Italy, Motorola is the second Android vendor after Samsung, with a 14% share and one million smartphones delivered last year.

Barlocco mentioned that Motorola has been successful in the under 300 euro range with the Moto G range, but they are now aiming to expand into higher price ranges. The Edge range has become more important for Motorola in terms of turnover, and the new Razr smartphones are a testament to the brand’s evolution.

The new products from Motorola focus not only on technology and content, but also on emotions. The company is incorporating sustainable materials, new colors, and artificial intelligence into their devices. They are the first to offer artificial intelligence on the external screen of a smartphone, replicating the contents of the internal display. Motorola is also offering three months of Gemini Advanced, Google’s premium artificial intelligence model, with their new smartphones.

The Razr 50 Ultra offers improved performance and photography features, with a Snapdragon 8S Gen 3 processor and two 50MP cameras. The device has a 4″ pOLED external display with a 4,000mAh battery for good autonomy. The device is also IPX8 certified with Gorilla Glass Victus, and comes with a 12-month display protection promotion for early buyers.

Overall, the Razr 50 Ultra represents an advancement over its predecessor, the 40 Ultra, with improvements in brightness, memory, and hinge mechanisms. The price for the Razr 50 Ultra starts at 1199 euros, while a cheaper version, the Razr 50, will be available in July for 899 euros. With their new smartphones, Motorola is aiming to compete in the premium smartphone market and offer innovative features to consumers.
