Motorway Closure between Paris and Vaucresson Extended Until Monday due to Ground Movement

The A13 motorway between the Paris ring road and the A86 has been closed in both directions since Thursday evening due to the discovery of a large crack. According to the Hauts-de-Seine prefecture, the motorway will remain closed at least until Monday inclusive. A reopening may be considered next week depending on the results of ongoing studies, with an update expected on Monday.

The closure of this busy section of road was made to ensure the safety of users, as a crack between the viaduct and the Saint-Cloud tunnel was identified as the cause for the closure. The movement of the ground that led to this crack is currently being diagnosed by authorities. Due to this ground movement, cracks were also found in a sewerage structure located underground.

The A13 motorway is a major route connecting Paris to Caen in Normandy, heavily used by Parisians traveling to the Normandy coast. Alternative routes such as the A15 or A86 are recommended for those traveling in the affected area. The closure has caused traffic issues and disruptions in the region, affecting local townships and national estates.

The closure coincides with the last weekend of school holidays for Île-de-France, prompting concerns of increased traffic in the region over the weekend. Authorities are urging caution and recommending minimal travel through the area until the situation is resolved. Regular updates are expected to inform motorists of any changes to the closure and reopening of the A13 motorway.
