In 2012, Andy Murray won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open, followed by Emma Raducanu nine years later in New York. Now, as Murray prepares for his farewell at Wimbledon, he has announced a mixed doubles partnership with Raducanu. The 37-year-old, who is playing at Wimbledon for the final time before retiring, made the decision after realizing he was not fit enough to compete in the singles. Alongside his brother Jamie, Murray will also be participating in the men’s doubles while teaming up with Raducanu in an exciting pairing.

In a recent practice session, Murray expressed his anticipation for the physical demands of doubles play. Reflecting on his experience playing mixed doubles with Serena Williams in 2019, Murray described it as a “once in a lifetime” opportunity. Partnering with Raducanu, the 2021 US Open champion, is bound to be another memorable moment in his storied career. Raducanu, who shared that teaming up with Murray was a childhood dream, emphasized the significance of Wimbledon and Murray’s presence on Centre Court.

Murray hinted that his first men’s doubles match with Jamie would likely take place on Thursday, while the mixed doubles is scheduled to start on Friday with first-round matches extending to Saturday. The collaboration between Murray and Raducanu adds an exciting element to the Wimbledon tournament, marking a special occasion as Murray’s retirement draws nearer.
