The Commanders kicked off their offseason program by adding a familiar face to the team. On Tuesday, Washington announced the signing of linebacker Mykal Walker, who previously played under head coach Dan Quinn during their time with the Falcons. Walker was a fourth-round pick for Atlanta in 2020 and appeared in 49 games with 20 starts in his first three seasons with the team before being waived in August.

After a brief stint with both Chicago and Las Vegas, Walker signed with Pittsburgh midway through the 2023 season. He appeared in eight games with five starts, tallying 33 total tackles with two for loss. Additionally, he had two passes defensed and an interception during his time with the Steelers.

Walker brings experience and versatility to the Commanders’ defense, and his familiarity with Coach Quinn’s system could prove valuable as Washington looks to improve on the defensive side of the ball. The addition of Walker adds depth to the linebacker position and gives the team another playmaker to help strengthen the defense for the upcoming season. With his proven track record in the NFL, Walker is poised to make an impact for the Commanders in the upcoming season.
