Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently had an important interaction with the Indian cricket team, who emerged victorious in the T20 World Cup. The team, led by Rohit Sharma, had defeated South Africa to clinch the title. After their triumph, they faced delays in Bridgetown, Barbados, due to a hurricane before finally arriving in Delhi.
Expressing his happiness, Prime Minister Modi met with the championship team at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg (LKM). He engaged in a conversation with the players, discussing their journey throughout the tournament. The Prime Minister shared his experience on social media, calling it a memorable meeting with the World Cup-winning team.
A video released by the Prime Minister’s Office showed the players in a relaxed discussion with Modi, with Rohit Sharma seated next to him and head coach Rahul Dravid on the other side. The players were dressed in special ‘CHAMPIONS’ jerseys with two stars, representing their two T20 World Cup victories. The atmosphere was jovial, with players visibly pleased to interact with the Prime Minister.
During the meeting, BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah presented Prime Minister Modi with a customized Team India jersey. The jersey featured ‘NAMO’ and the number ‘1,’ as a gesture of appreciation and respect towards the Prime Minister.
