During the session, the International Ski Federation (FIS) made the decision to award the 2031 Alpine World Ski Championships to Val Gardena, Italy. This decision was made after considering high-quality bids from Narvik, Norway, and Soldeu, Andorra. The announcement was met with excitement and jubilation from the delegation led by Rainer Senoner.
Narvik had previously won the bid to host the 2029 Alpine World Ski Championships, showcasing the caliber of bids presented during the session. As FIS President Johan Eliasch prepared to announce the host city for 2031, the room fell silent in anticipation. When Val Gardena was chosen, it marked the realization of a vision years in the making for the Italian delegation.
This will be the second time that Val Gardena hosts the Alpine World Ski Championships, with the first time being in 1970. The delegation’s celebration emphasized the significance of being chosen to host the prestigious event once again. The selection of Val Gardena as the 2031 host city reflects the commitment to excellence and passion for alpine skiing within the region.
