The Metro Nashville police have taken action against a North Nashville business, the Star Market, by padlocking it due to the high number of criminal incidents that have occurred on the premises. Over the last five years, officers have responded to the store more than 400 times for gun violence, assaults, and other crimes. This has led the community to demand an end to the disturbances and bring peace back to the area.

Chief John Drake expressed the frustrations of the community, stating that they are tired of the quality of life problems, gunfire, and lack of peace of mind caused by the criminal activities at the Star Market. Despite meeting with the owners in August 2022 to address the ongoing crimes, the situation did not improve, leading to the closure of the business by court order under the state’s public nuisance law.

In addition to closing the Star Market, police also conducted a search at the F&B Mart on Clarksville Highway, which is under the same ownership. Chief Drake mentioned that illegal activities such as the sale of stolen items were taking place at the F&B Mart, leading to investigations into money laundering and other charges against the owners. The authorities are taking decisive action to address these criminal activities and bring safety and peace back to the community.
