NATO Secretary General: Moscow lacks capability for “significant breakthroughs” in Ukraine

According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Russia is currently unable to achieve significant breakthroughs on the battlefield in Ukraine. Despite Russia’s attempts to launch offensives since the spring, they have only been able to make limited gains. Stoltenberg emphasized that there is no indication suggesting that Russia has the capabilities or strength to make significant advances in the conflict.

Stoltenberg emphasized that the United States will continue to be a strong ally within NATO, regardless of the outcome of the elections. He also noted that Russian forces may persist in pushing on various fronts and increasing air attacks. However, he pointed out that Ukrainians have been able to hold their ground and inflict heavy losses on the Russian invaders through both frontline and deep strikes.

In May, Moscow initiated a new major offensive in northeastern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces initially had to retreat, but they managed to block the Russian advance in Vovchansk, a town near the Russian border. Despite losing control of some villages, the Ukrainians have demonstrated resilience in the face of Russian aggression.
