The second round of the 124th U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort & C.C. was a success for NBC Sports, with a Total Audience Delivery of 2.38 million viewers during the broadcast window from 1-7 p.m. ET. This was an 18% increase compared to 2023 and a 54% increase compared to 2022. The viewership peaked at nearly 3 million viewers from 6-6:15 p.m. ET, making it the most-watched second round since 2012.
This year’s U.S. Open second round also marked NBC Sports’ most-watched early rounds of an east coast U.S. Open since 2014, with a Total Audience Delivery of 1.51 million viewers, an 11% increase compared to 2022. Peacock exclusively saw a 40% increase in viewership compared to last year’s comparable window, making it the most-streamed U.S. Open early rounds on record.
The first round coverage on Thursday also saw viewership gains and records on USA Network and Peacock. Peacock’s exclusive first round coverage from 5-8 p.m. ET was NBC Sports’ most-streamed golf telecast on record, with a 52% increase in viewership compared to last year. USA Network’s first round viewership was up 30% for comparable coverage compared to 2022.
This successful start to the U.S. Open sets the stage for an exciting final round on Sunday, which will begin at 9 a.m. ET on USA Network before coverage continues on NBC and Peacock at noon ET. Viewers can expect to see more thrilling golf action and record-breaking viewership numbers as the tournament progresses.
