The Huskers are currently extending offers for the 2025-2026 basketball season, with Abdul Bashir, a guard from Casper (Wyo.) College, being one of the recipients of an offer from Nebraska. Bashir, who is a Nebraska native hailing from Omaha and playing for Omaha Central, recently made an unofficial visit to Lincoln. The 6-foot, 7-inch freshman completed his first season at Casper College, playing in 33 games and earning 32 starts. He showcased impressive stats, averaging 19.4 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game. Bashir also boasted impressive shooting percentages, with 46.3% from the field, 45.3% from three-point range, and 78.5% from the free-throw line.

Throughout the season, Bashir had several standout performances, scoring a career-high 33 points in three different games. In the team’s Region IX North Sub-Region Play-In Game, he once again led the team with 33 points. Despite his commendable efforts, Bashir and the Thunderbirds were unable to secure a win in the Region IX Tourney in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, falling to Western Nebraska Community College. Even in defeat, Bashir put up a solid performance, scoring 18 points and showcasing his shooting skills.
