Neighborhood Health in Fort Wayne, Indiana is expanding its services by adding a retail pharmacy to its clinic on Calhoun Street. The goal of this addition is to make it easier for patients to get their prescriptions filled in a simple and seamless manner. The pharmacy will accept all major pharmacy insurance payors and will provide affordable medication through the Neighborhood Health Pharmacy Medication Assistance Program for those who meet specific financial criteria.

Andrea Mekonnen, the senior director of pharmacy for Neighborhood Health, expressed the challenges of ensuring patients were able to access their medications at outside pharmacies. With the new retail pharmacy, there will be improved communication and collaboration between the pharmacy and medical providers to guarantee that patients receive the correct medications at the right times. A grand opening ceremony for the pharmacy is scheduled for Friday, June 28 at 9:30 a.m. The original ceremony was planned for April but was postponed due to the passing of former Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry, who had committed to being a part of the opening.

Neighborhood Health President and CEO Angie Zaegel acknowledged Mayor Henry’s dedication to providing healthcare access to underserved populations and expressed excitement about the central accessibility and affordability of the new pharmacy location. The pharmacy is currently open during specific hours on weekdays and is accessible to patients who are not part of Neighborhood Health. The addition of the retail pharmacy aims to enhance the healthcare services offered at Neighborhood Health and provide a convenient option for prescription fulfillment.
