Netanyahu and Washington continue to have strained relations

Gallant acknowledged the crucial role the US plays as an ally and supplier of arms to Israel. He is expected to discuss Israel’s conflict with Hamas, efforts to secure hostage returns, and steps for regional stability during his visit. Additionally, Gallant expressed opposition to an independent Palestinian state post-conflict, aligning with far-right views within the Israeli government.

Gallant hinted at transitioning to a different phase in Gaza, possibly indicating a shift in military strategy or post-conflict planning. He aims to work closely with US officials on this transition, emphasizing cooperation between Israel and the US on critical issues. The statement reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts between the two countries amidst challenges and disagreements.
