Netanyahu declares Israel on the brink of defeating Hamas

Israel is moving towards completing the elimination of the Hamas terrorist army, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In a speech to students at the National Defense College, Netanyahu stated that IDF operations will continue to target the remnants of Hamas. He reassured foreign students from various countries that Israel will achieve all its war objectives.

Despite ongoing accusations between ministers and security officials, Netanyahu criticized the release of Mohammad Abu Salmiya, the director of al-Shifa hospital, calling it a serious mistake and ethical failure. He emphasized that Abu Salmiya, responsible for holding captives and causing their deaths, should be in prison. Netanyahu requested an investigation into the decision that led to Abu Salmiya’s release, which was made without the knowledge of political leaders and security agency heads.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the need for clear, coherent plans for governance, security, and reconstruction in Gaza after the conflict. He highlighted that Israeli occupation, continued Hamas leadership, or chaos and lawlessness are unacceptable for Gaza’s future. Blinken also discussed the potential for conflict in Lebanon, acknowledging that Israel and Hezbollah might be inclined to fight to protect their interests.

The IDF announced the discovery and destruction of a significant rocket production site belonging to the Islamic Jihad in southern Gaza. Multiple military units raided the site, uncovering an underground facility used for producing rocket parts and long-range rockets. Clashes ensued during the raid, resulting in the deaths of several Islamic Jihad operatives. Despite these operations, Palestinians launched rockets at Israel, with some being intercepted and others hitting southern communities.

As tensions continue in the region, the situation remains volatile with ongoing military actions and threats of conflict. Amidst these challenges, efforts are being made to address governance, security, and reconstruction issues in Gaza to prevent further escalation of violence.
