New Broncos TE Thomas Yassmin: A Closer Look at the Highlights

The Denver Broncos made a move after the 2024 NFL draft to sign undrafted free agent tight end Thomas Yassmin. Yassmin, who stands at 6-5 and weighs 251 pounds, was a teammate of Denver’s seventh-round draft pick, wide receiver Devaughn Vele at the University of Utah. Originally from Australia, Yassmin had no prior experience playing American football and instead played rugby in high school before making the switch to football.

Yassmin started to see success on the football field in 2022, playing in all 13 games and starting six times. During that season, he had 13 catches for 301 yards and six touchdowns, with an impressive average of 23.2 yards per catch. Unfortunately, in 2023, Yassmin suffered a season-ending injury after playing in just five games, where he caught eight passes for 89 yards and a touchdown.

Yassmin now finds himself in a competitive tight end room for the Broncos, which includes third-year player Greg Dulcich, Lucas Krull, Adam Trautman, and Nate Adkins. In order to secure a spot on the roster, Yassmin will need to make a strong impression during training camp. Part of the NFL’s International Player Pathway program, Yassmin could potentially make the practice squad without counting against the 16-player limit.
