New Executive Director Appointed at St. Paul Life Science Incubator in the Twin Cities

University Enterprise Labs, a life science incubator nonprofit based in St. Paul, has announced the appointment of Brad Larmie as their new executive director. The announcement was made on April 2, 2024. University Enterprise Labs provides laboratory spaces and scientific equipment for companies in the fields of biotech, medtech, tough tech, and agricultural tech.

In his new role, Larmie will be responsible for overseeing operations, investment strategy, programs, and partnerships for the 150,000-square-foot facility. He expressed his excitement about the opportunity to take UEL to the next level and increase its contribution to Minnesota’s thriving life sciences ecosystem. Larmie has a background in biological sciences and brings previous experience from roles at Children’s Minnesota, ChRi Laboratories, and Novartis.

Barbara Nelsen, Chair of the UEL Board, commented on the ambitious goals set for UEL’s future and the importance of having a qualified leader like Larmie. The organization aims to foster Minnesota’s next generation of life sciences companies and support economic growth in the Twin Cities. UEL is located at 1000 Westgate Drive in St. Paul and offers over 35 wet, dry, and clinical labs for research and development.

Since its establishment in 2005, UEL has supported over 175 startup companies and currently hosts 65 tenant companies working on various projects, including medical devices, diagnostic tools, robotics, and atmospheric carbon capture. With Brad Larmie at the helm, the organization looks forward to continued success and growth in the years to come.
