SGT. Coffee Co. in Gahanna, Ohio, has finally opened its doors after a decade in the making. The business, located at 106 Short St., is owned by Ryan and Brandi Sargent, who have been dreaming of starting a business together for 25 years.

The idea for SGT. Coffee Co. came about during the couple’s Saturday morning coffee dates where they would explore different coffee shops in Columbus. As coffee enthusiasts, they decided to turn their passion into a business venture.

As an army veteran, Ryan wanted to use the coffee shop as a way to support local veteran nonprofits. Brandi, who recently lost a family member who was a veteran, created a drink in his honor with proceeds going towards veterans’ charities.

The couple converted a mobile pop-up camper into the coffee shop, which serves coffees, sparkling drinks, and tea. They have partnered with Crimson Cup for their beverages and will soon be offering vegan and gluten-free pastries from Madelyn’s of Granville.

SGT. Coffee Co. is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. It aims to not only provide quality beverages but also support and give back to the veteran community.
