New Metal Pretreatment Technology Launched by Henkel

Henkel Adhesive Technologies has recently introduced a cleaner and coater technology designed to improve efficiency and sustainability in metal pretreatment processes. The goal of this technology is to assist users in the metal industry in cutting down the number of process steps by half, while also conserving water and energy. This initiative is in line with Henkel’s sustainability campaign, ‘Respect the Planet, Rethink Design’.

The new technology from Henkel specifically targets the challenge of cleaning and coating metal surfaces, which are crucial for protecting against corrosion and ensuring proper adhesion of paint. These processes play a vital role in maintaining the quality and performance of a wide range of products, from household appliances to heavy machinery.

In a recently released white paper, Henkel demonstrated how its innovative technology can streamline the processing steps from ten down to four by utilizing the latest generation of coaters. One of the key components of this process is Bonderite M-NT 41044, a phosphate-free liquid solution that can both clean and coat metal parts in a single step, enhancing corrosion resistance.

Volker Mansfeld, the vice-president of Henkel Adhesive Technologies EIMEA Industry, emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainable practices within the metal industry. Mansfeld highlighted the importance of collaborating with customers to reevaluate current processes and develop high-performance products that use natural resources responsibly.

Earlier this year, Henkel also launched ‘Climate Connect’, an engagement program for its global packaging, traded goods, and raw material suppliers, further underlining its commitment to sustainability.
