Holiday World, Indiana’s largest amusement park, is starting the spring season by introducing its Thanksgiving-themed area, getting all the early headlines. The feedback for the new ‘Good Gravy!’ ride has been overwhelmingly positive since the announcement, making it a popular attraction this season. The ride is an oversized interpretation of Thanksgiving dinner, where riders sit in gravy boat trains and speed out of grandma’s house, through a giant can of cranberry sauce, and past a towering milk jug. The coaster offers a unique experience of going forward and backward on the same tracks, making it a family-friendly “boomerang” ride.
While some boomerang coasters in other parks feature extreme twists and loops, ‘Good Gravy!’ is a relatively tame ride suitable for riders with a minimum height of 38″. The park auctioned off the first rides on the new attraction to raise money for a local community center providing social services. The official opening of ‘Good Gravy!’ was a special event for Platinum and Season Pass members, with the park opening to all visitors shortly after. Single-day passes start at $39.99, with Splashin’ Safari opening the following weekend. Both parks are cashless, and Holiday World is scheduled to close in October.
