New York Jets Cut Ties with Cornerback Tae Hayes

The New York Jets have made the decision to part ways with cornerback Tae Hayes following his arrest for marijuana possession on Sunday morning. The team released Hayes after being made aware of his legal troubles. Initially, the Jets stated they were aware of the situation but would not provide further comment.

Hayes, 26, joined the Jets’ practice squad last October and played in one game for the team. He was later signed to a futures contract in January. Starting his NFL career as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Hayes has bounced around the league, spending time with multiple teams including the Jaguars, Dolphins, Vikings, Cardinals, Panthers, Patriots, Lions, and Ravens.

After posting a $300 bond, Hayes was released early Sunday morning. The Jets have chosen to move on from him following this incident.
