On April 25, 2024, Lois Irene (Bastian) Barton, 96, of Johnstown, passed away. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Kehl) Bastian and was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, as well as her siblings, Florence and Charles. Surviving family members include her children: Anna Marie (Paul) Doherty, Michael (Deborah), Sandra (Ronald) Stombaugh.
Also on April 25, 2024, Ella J. “Judy” Carroll, 89, of Chest Springs, died. She was born in Glen Daniel, W.Va., to Dalton and Delila (Brooks) Claypool. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Carroll, and her sons, David Martin “Duff” and Michael Lee.
Stacy Elise Lasser, 45, of Hollidaysburg passed away on April 25, 2024, surrounded by her loving parents, Byron and Ronna (Schwartz) Lasser, after bravely battling liver cancer. She is survived by uncles, Richard and Robert Schwartz, and aunts: Jo Lasser, Tanya Schwartz, Janet Levy.
Lastly, Shary Lee (Meredith) Weis, 60, of St. Petersburg, Fla., peacefully passed away at her home on April 2, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of D. Reid Meredith and Mary Lee (Pope) Meredith. Shary was a 1982 graduate of Altoona Area High School. She is survived by her family.
