Next Wednesday, Nicolás Maduro will resume talks with the United States

The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, announced on Monday that the dialogue process with the Government of the USA will restart next Wednesday. He mentioned that he had received proposals from the US government to resume talks for two months, which he had accepted. Maduro stated on his weekly television show that the discussions would focus on fulfilling agreements signed in Qatar and ensuring respectful and public dialogues without manipulation.

Maduro appointed the president of Parliament, Jorge Rodriguez, along with the governor of Miranda state, Hector Rodriguez, as representatives for Venezuela in the dialogue process. He expressed his desire for dialogue, understanding, and future changes in relations with the US while maintaining the absolute sovereignty and independence of Venezuela.

Talks between the US and Venezuela have been intermittent since March 2022 when a White House delegation visited Caracas to meet with Maduro. One of the agreements reached was the partial lifting of US sanctions against Venezuela last October, which was reversed due to alleged non-compliance by the Venezuelan government. The release of Colombian businessman Alex Saab, considered a front man for Maduro, was among the outcomes of negotiations between the two countries.

Despite challenges and disagreements, Maduro emphasized the importance of seeking new agreements and moving forward in the dialogue process. He expressed his hope for a positive future for relations between Venezuela and the US, grounded in mutual respect and adherence to previous agreements.
