The NFL is set to release the full 2024 schedule on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET, as reported by Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal. This announcement comes after signs had previously pointed to the schedule being released next week, according to PFT. The NFL confirmed the schedule release date in a memo sent to teams by executive vice president of media distribution Hans Schroeder on Tuesday.
Teams had originally expected the schedule to be released on Thursday, but the reason for the delay was not explained in the memo. One possible reason for the delay could be the league’s recent decision to play two games on Wednesday, December 25. Schroeder had previously stated that the NFL would not schedule games on Christmas when it falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday. This decision required the league to select the Christmas matchups, negotiate broadcasting rights, and schedule the participating teams to also play on the preceding Saturday.
Despite the delay, football fans can expect to see the full 2024 schedule soon. While it may not be released as early as anticipated, the schedule will be made public in due time.
