San Francisco 49ers’ edge rusher Nick Bosa is bucking his usual trend by participating in organized team activities this offseason. Typically, the former defensive player of the year spends this time training in Florida before returning to Santa Clara for mandatory work. However, this year, Bosa has chosen to join his teammates early on.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan expressed his excitement about having Bosa present during OTAs. Shanahan noted that Bosa’s previous offseasons were interrupted by different circumstances like COVID, an ACL tear, and contract negotiations. This year, with everything running smoothly, Shanahan is glad to have Bosa participating in the team’s offseason program.

Despite notable absences like Christian McCaffrey, Jauan Jennings, and Brandon Aiyuk during Tuesday’s practice, Bosa’s voluntary attendance has made a significant impact on his teammates. Quarterback Brock Purdy emphasized the importance of Bosa’s commitment to the team during this phase of the offseason. Purdy highlighted that seeing Bosa taking the work seriously motivates the rest of the team to do the same.

Purdy also mentioned the value of having Bosa back in the team environment, providing crucial reps and simulations for the offense and defense. Bosa’s presence has boosted morale among the players, creating a sense of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming season. Overall, Bosa’s decision to participate in OTAs has had a positive ripple effect on the team as they gear up for the upcoming season.
